Oil company Rubis Caribbean joined efforts to limit spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic with donations of personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Barbados Prison Service yesterday.

The company’s Marketing Manager for the Eastern Caribbean, Andrea Gooding, said the donation comprised 2 000 KN95 masks, 2 000 surgical masks and 2 000 pairs of gloves, which will be used in the public health response to COVID-19.

In a media statement, Gooding said Rubis was committed to supporting all the countries in which it operated.

“We understand the challenges associated with getting adequate supplies of Personal Protective Equipment and we are committed to assisting the ministries of health around the Caribbean,” she stated.

Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr Anton Best, accepted the donation on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Wellness, while Superintendent of Prisons, Lt Col John Nurse represented the Prison Service. They both expressed gratitude to Rubis. (BGIS)
