Fisher folk and vendors at the Berinda Cox Fish Market, still trying to come to terms with the sudden death of colleague Rita “Sissy” Hunte in a freak accident on Wednesday, have renewed the call for barriers to protect them.
And Minister of Maritime Affairs and the Blue Economy Kirk Humphrey has pledged to do everything to have the barriers erected.
Hunte, 74, of Upper Carters Gap, Christ Church, was sitting on a chair in her usual relaxation spot when a vehicle ploughed into her, crushing her legs, after a 54-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle. She died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Another woman, Dorothy Small, 63, of Sayes Court, Christ Church was also involved in the accident and her injuries were not serious. (RA)
