Visits to state-run geriatric facilities and the Psychiatric Hospital will resume, but with limited numbers. However, restrictions remain in place at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).

A statement from the Ministry of Health and Wellness said: “In accordance with the latest directive, effective today, June 29, one visitor per patient is allowed at the Geriatric Hospital and other district hospitals, while the same will apply at the Psychiatric Hospital from Wednesday, July 1.”

Meanwhile, at the QEH, no visitors are allowed except for the following categories:

• Patients receiving palliative care and end-of-life care

• Pregnant patients who are in active labour

• Very ill patients who will be identified by the Department of Nursing Services

• Paediatric patients – visitation is limited to one visitor per patient. In respect of paediatric patients, a parent or guardian is allowed to stay with the patient around-the-clock.

These restrictions were imposed by Government to limit spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. (BGIS)
