Barbados Tridents, the 2019 Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) champions, will start their title defence against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on August 18 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.

Earlier that same day, the first match of the 2020 tournament will feature Trinbago Knight Riders against losing finalists Guyana Amazon Warriors at the same venue.

Fans will have to wait until game 22 for a repeat of last year’s final with the Tridents taking on the Amazon Warriors.

The 33-match season will be played from August 18 to September 10 in Trinidad & Tobago, with all matches taking place across the Brian Lara Cricket Academy and the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain. The former, in Tarouba, will host 23 games including the semi-inals and final, and the latter will have 10 matches.

The tournament will take place behind closed doors in a bio-secure environment with a series of stringent protocols in place to protect those involved in the tournament and the wider population from the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
