JADA strike action looms

Share post:

Workers of the JADA Group are threatening to take industrial action for what they say are monies owed them and non-payment of benefits during the COVID-19 shutdown.

A number of employees in the construction company lamented that representation by the Barbados Workers’ Union was “a bit too weak” and they were planning to take matters into their own hands.

Some workers had been laid off for more than 13 weeks under COVID-19, some for 17 weeks and others sent home for 18 weeks. However, shop steward Cleave Robinson said the company had recently given some workers an additional 22 weeks at home in an effort to “catch themselves”.

Robinson, a painter who was back at work, said enough was enough, and it was time management took them more seriously. (RA)
