The death of his mother started his downward spiral into drugs and alcohol, Shawn Omar Hinkson declared yesterday.

But while he said his mother died in 2017, his conviction card showed he had drug convictions predating that year.

Hinkson, 35, a public service vehicle conductor, of Pavilion Road, Bank Hall, St Michael, was in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty to entering the Counter Services Department of the General Post Office, on August 21, and stealing a fan and a microwave belonging to the Crown.

He also admitted he entered Edmond Bryan’s house, on March 19, 2018, and stole a television and DVD player; that he entered Ramrattie Gobin’s house on August 27, this year, with intent to steal, and that he entered Calvin Scantlebury’s home, between August 20 and 21, and stole a television and remote control.
