The Animal Flower Cave has launched several initiatives in an effort to stay afloat amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

During a visit by Minister of Tourism Lisa Cummins and a team from the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. to the St Lucy attraction as part of the Barbados Uh Come From initiative, cave owners Sue and Manuel Ward outlined their plans.

“We’re raising our own sheep – around 400 in all – because we saw the potential in us being a farm-to-table environment,” said Manuel.

“A lot of Bajans like local lamb, and I think we spend millions in importing it a year, but if I were to raise sheep to sell to the local markets, it would not be worth it. If we are to really make a business out of lamb meat, we have to look at the prices.” (CA)
