KINGSTON – The leader of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), Andrew Holness will be sworn in for his second term as Prime Minister on Monday at King’s House – the official residence of the Governor General.

The ceremony, that will be streamed live, is being held in accordance with the Constitution of Jamaica.

During the ceremony, that is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. local time (4 p.m. Barbados time), Holness will take the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Office of Prime Minister of Jamaica, after which he will receive the Instrument of Appointment to the Office of Prime Minister from Governor General  Sir Patrick Allen.

Holness will then address the nation.

This is the third time that Holness will be sworn in as prime minister, having served from October 23, 2011 to January 5, 2012.  He was sworn in for a second time on March 3, 2016.

The Jamaica Labour Party defeated the main opposition People’s National Party (PNP) 49-14 in last Thursday’s general election. (CMC)
