Approximately 1 000 students of the Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology (SJPI) returned to the classroom yesterday under the new COVID-19 environment.
And principal of the 11-acre campus, Ian Drakes, said there was a smooth run to the day with no one challenging the newly implemented measures. But some students remain concerned about having to wear face masks for the duration of classes.
“Things have been very peaceful in terms of no persons challenging the protocols. We’ve also given a copy of the protocols to all staff and also to the student council which was activated from (yesterday),” Drakes said at the end of classes yesterday evening.
When a DAILY NATION team visited the campus, students were exiting their classes, but each person entering the compound had to have their temperature checked and hands sanitised before they were allowed in with their masks. (RA)
