New travel protocols coming

Social Share

New COVID-19 protocols are coming for visitors as some hoteliers complain about the effect the current set are having on their operations.

At the same time, hotels serving as quarantine centres for tourists are being warned that they must have proper security to monitor their guests’ movements.

During yesterday’s third quarterly meeting of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) which was held online, Minister of Tourism Senator Lisa Cummins announced she and health officials were meeting with Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley yesterday “to sign off on the arrangements for a new protocol”.

Last weekend, veteran hotelier Ralph Taylor, a former BHTA and Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association president, said the existing requirements for entry were too restrictive. He added that insistence on a test a maximum of three days prior to arrival eliminated too large a market share from consideration. (GC)
