SSA on case of night dumper

Next week, the Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) will begin the arduous task of removing tonnes of garbage from Maxwell Hill, Christ Church, taken from bins by a woman who then created the mini landfill.

Residents from the area breathed a sigh of relief yesterday when the new Minister responsible for the SSA Adrian Forde; Parliamentary representative Ralph Thorne, and senior officials in the Ministry of Health brought them the good news.

The garbage thief, who residents identified as a woman named “Michelle”, was said to have a history of mental illness. She has been removing garbage from neighbours’ bins late at night or in the wee hours of the morning and taking it to her well-built dump in a bushy, secluded area, below a hill.

She has also dumped wood, bricks, stone, galvanised sheets and other household waste on the 40-feet high mound. (MB)
