Barbadian archer Charlene Goddard will shoot against world No. 2 Sara Lopez during tomorrow’s quarter-finals of the Online Archery Cup of the Americas.

Goddard, who placed fourth overall at the 2019 Pan American Games Qualifiers, told Sun Sport the aim of the event was to provide archers with competition after the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic caused the cancellation of many of this year’s events.

“The World Archery Americas came up with this idea to do an online shoot at 18 metres, which is an indoor distance. They chose it because not everyone has access to shooting what we would normally shoot, which is like 50 metres for Compound, like I would usually do. That was the easiest distance for everyone to be able to shoot from home,” she said.

Each category cut off at the top eight and she was selected to do the elimination after placing seventh. (RG)
