A flash-flood warning is in effect for Central and Eastern districts until 6 p.m. today or sooner if conditions warrant.

Barbados Meteorological Services said a flash-flood warning is issued when flooding due to heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period (generally less than six hours) is occurring or is imminent in the warning area.

Maximum rainfall accumulations of 20.0 to 40.0 mm in moderate to heavy showers are expected over the warning area.

Residents and visitors should note that the following are likely:

• Soil erosion on bared or scarred land surfaces.

• Debris such as rocks, mud and foliage could end up on roads and property.

• Traffic delays.

• Flooding at the foot of hillsides and coastal roads.
