Concerned about the dismal recent performances of the West Indies Women, president of the Barbados Cricket Association Conde Riley said a greater collective effort around the Caribbean was required to transform the fortunes of the team.
Riley’s comments came on the heels of the Windies Women being swept 5-0 by England Women in a Twenty20 International series that ended on Wednesday.
The series loss in England highlighted a big slump in the results of the team, following the ICC Women’s Twenty20 World Cup in the Caribbean almost two Novembers ago, when Stafanie Taylor’s team was knocked out at the semi-final stage.
The Windies Women have won only two of the ten one-day internationals and six of the 26 T20Is that they have contested in that time, but three of the T20 wins were against the lowly Ireland Women and three of the matches during the period were abandoned without a ball being bowled. (AR)
