Days after heavy rainfall cost some farmers thousands of dollars in ruined crops, they have been warned to brace for more early next week.
However, Minister of Agriculture Indar Weir said he planned to visit the badly affected farms to get a true measurement of the damage.
For about six days straight, some sections of Barbados recorded nearly ten inches (250 mm) of rainfall and forced the closure of at least one school on Thursday, flooded communities such as Goodland, Christ Church, and farms in Spring Hall, St Lucy, River Land and other farming communities in St Philip.
“I will be touring all of the farms that were impacted by the rains and have my usual consultations with the farmers to see and make the determination as to whether the situation merits intervention,” he told the MIDWEEK NATION yesterday. (TG)
