UPDATE: Drowning victim identified

Police identified the minor who is believed to have drowned at Providence Terrace, Christ Church, earlier Sunday.

Ten-year-old Dashawn Depeiza Best of nearby Parish Land was pronounced dead at the scene of an unoccupied house.

Lawmen say they received the call of an apparent drowning in a swimming pool around 2:05 p.m.

A patrol from the Oistins Police Station confirmed the incident. Ambulance personnel were also summoned to the scene, but found no sign of life.

Police are appealing to the general public for any information which may be helpful in the investigation of this matter. Anyone who may have information should contact Oistins Police Station at 418-2612. Police Emergency 211, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIPS (8477) or the nearest Police Station. (PR/SAT)
