Barbadian families will receive an additional $1.5 million worth of food vouchers through the Sandy Lane Charitable Trust’s Feed A Family programme.

Announcing this on Wednesday, trustee Phillipa Challis said it would be “the last tranche” and double the amount to which the trust had committed when it launched the programme in May, as “the bank account is now empty”.

The trust’s initial commitment to the Feed A Family programme was $1.5 million worth of supermarket vouchers to be distributed through the 30 constituency offices, with another $1.5 million in vouchers to follow.

With the earlier donation having been pushed up further to total $4.5 million, this final tranche will bring the total commitment to $6 million, Challis said. (GC)
