Open Campus going global in two years
The University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus could start taking its first cohort of international students within the next two years.
Word of this came from The UWI’s Vice Chancellor Sir Hilary Beckles during yesterday’s online launch of the inaugural UWI Open Campus’ Students Today Alumni Tomorrow (STAT) week of activities that kicked off on Sunday.
Principal and Pro Vice Chancellor of the Open Campus, Dr Luz Longsworth, who conceptualised the global capacity of the online and flexible learning campus, said the world was UWI’s “oyster”.
This is the closest the university has come to setting a timeline for UWI Open Campus going global since steadily revealing a series of initiatives, including the opening of the Office for UWI Global Online three years ago to lay the groundwork for teaching international students online. (SNR)
