Scores of former workers at the Chaps Restaurants collected their overdue holiday pay at the Labour Office yesterday.

They arrived at the Warrens, St Michael office from as early as7:30 a.m. for their money after being displaced earlier this year.

Sesell Morris, who worked at Primo Bar & Bistro at St Lawrence Gap, Christ Church, said that since the 149 workers were abruptly sent home on March 1, life had been extremely challenging.

“Things were extremely difficult for us,” he said. “It left us in a position where everyone was looking around for any opportunity to work. The news of our redundancy was really short notice. We had bills to pay, and debt collectors calling us for their money. So it was rough, especially when the COVID-19 pandemic reached our shores,” he said.
