DOMESTIC VIOLENCE is at the root cause of the destruction of many families.

So said child rights advocate, Shelly Ross, who added that societal changes as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic had brought the ugliness of domestic violence to the fore.

“One of my major concerns stems from the numerous requests for help that came into my inbox. One of the things about the pandemic is that there was a rise in everything and there was a rise in domestic violence calls,” she told the DAILY NATION in a recent interview, attributing this to warring partners being forced to spend longer periods in the same space.

“Domestic violence is at the root cause of the destruction of many families and it is at the root of child abuse in families. A lot of people still do not understand domestic violence and the damage that it is doing to children. Even both parents are still tending not to call what is happening in the home domestic violence; they say we are just having issues. (MB)
