Public service vehicle conductor Jamar Akeem Nathaniel Powlett, who is accused of having sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl on three occasions and putting her in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital after one occasion, was remanded when he appeared in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
The 27-year-old, of Bottom Close, Wildey, St Michael, was not required to plead to having unlawful sexual intercourse with the girl on August 16, again on November 2 and then on November 16, all this year.
Prosecutor Sergeant Vernon Waithe, who objected to the accused’s release, pointed to the nature of the offences and said Powlett was alleged to have had vaginal and anal sex with the girl, in addition to using marijuana during the act.
The prosecutor further told the court the child was hospitalised for eight days after the first alleged act. (HLE)
