Some districts left high and dry

Barbadians in parts of St John, St Joseph, St George and St Thomas did not have the merry Christmas they wanted after waking up to dry taps or very low water pressure.

Around 11:30 a.m. at Crusher Site Road in Prospect, St James, the Richards family was making preparations to hold a social in the small community and were cutting grass, setting up tables, chairs and tents, and checking the sound system.

Kaycene Richards said it was customary for her family to get together and have Christmas functions that ran from lunchtime into the night.

“Right now all of my plans messed up. I would have cooked and all if the water wasn’t running so low. I got people coming by me to lime and have a good time and none of the food ain’t done. I just disappointed, because of all days, we should have water,” she lamented.
