Officers of the Royal Barbados Police Force were on the scene this morning as Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) workers in protective gear cleaned the premises of the Treasury Building in The City.

Well-known homeless person “Ninja Man” was also asked to move along. Ninja Man has made a section of the Treasury Building’s premises his “home” for some time. The area often looks unsightly, with garbage strewn.

Public Relations officer of the SSA Carl Padmore said they were asked by Treasury officials to assist with a clean-up of the area.

“Personnel from the Treasury asked us to assist and we used a skip and safely removed the stuff to the landfill. We did it under the watchful eye of the police.”

Padmore made the point that Bridgetown is cleaned daily and SSA has assisted in cleaning around the Treasury Building on about three or four occasions in recent times.

“He [Ninja Man] makes the Treasury his home and it becomes a nuisance. We clean up with the police present. Not that he is a threat . . . .” Padmore said. (KG)
