Pride choose to bat in second Super50 Cup match

Article by Adriel Richard

ST JOHN’S – Barbados Pride won the toss and chose to bat against Leeward Islands Hurricanes in their second match of the West Indies Super50 Cup today at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.

Pride made one change to their line-up from the previous match with left-arm spinner Joshua Bishop replacing pacer Keon Harding.

Hurricanes also made one change with Devon Thomas replacing Montcin Hodge and taking over the captaincy of the side.

Pride stumbled to defeat in their opening match, when Guyana Jaguars beat them by 56 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern Method on Monday at the same venue, after rain curtailed their run chase.

Hurricanes also lost their opening match, when Windward Islands defeated them by 31 runs in the tournament opener this past Sunday at the same venue.

PRIDE: Jason Holder (captain), Zachary McCaskie, Justin Greaves, Jonathan Carter, Shamarh Brooks, Roston Chase, Tevyn Walcott (wicketkeeper), Ashley Nurse, Akeem Jordan, Joshua Bishop, Chemar Holder.

HURRICANES: Devon Thomas (captain), Kieran Powell, Ross Powell, Keacy Carty, Nitish Kumar, Amir Jangoo (wicketkeeper), Terrence Warde, Hayden Walsh Jr, Quinton Boatswain, Ashmead Nedd, Sheno Berridge.

UMPIRES: Zahid Bassarath, Deighton Butler.
