Charity worker Sharon Bellamy-Thompson was back in Jubilee Gardens, The City, on Monday morning, serving meals to the homeless and vulnerable.

Bellamy-Thompson, who has been performing the labour of love for decades, was grounded for more than a week awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test.

A client of the Barbados Alliance to End Homelessness was positive for the virus and as part of the contact tracing, Bellamy-Thompson also had to be tested.

“This morning I am so happy. My burden has been released because I was locked down for about two weeks and my main concern was these people, how they would be fed; and when I got here this morning, they were so happy,” she said.

From a small helping hand, Bellamy-Thompson, who works out of the Bridgetown Fisheries Complex, is now preparing more than 100 meals a day.
