The number of active COVID-19 cases in Barbados is now 661.
This follows another 44 people testing positive for the viral illness on Friday, February 26, out of 795 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.
The new cases comprised 17 men and 27 women, of which 36 were Barbadians.
Seven of the new cases were already at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility in St. Lucy undergoing assessment to determine whether their positive PCR test result showed that they were newly positive, or whether they had COVID in the past and were no longer infectious.
Health officials also indicated that 74 more people have recovered, and they have been discharged from isolation.
Barbados has recorded 3,038 confirmed cases – 1,417 females and 1,621 males – and 2,344 people have recovered. There have been 33 deaths from the viral illness.
Since February last year, the public health laboratory has completed 125,187 tests.
Meanwhile, another 4,326 people were vaccinated on Friday as part of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19. To date, a total of 33,633 vaccinations have been administered – 14,482 men and 19,151 women.
