21 new virus cases, 61 people recover

Barbados recorded 21 new positive cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) on Saturday, March 6, while 61 people have recovered and were released from isolation.

The new cases were identified out of the 475 tests completed by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. The number of active cases is 433.

The 21 positive people comprise ten women and 11 men.  Nine of them had already been at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility undergoing assessment to determine whether they were newly positive, or had COVID-19 in the past and were no longer infectious. The other 12 people are Barbadians.

Barbados has recorded 3 285 confirmed cases – 1 550 females and 1 735 males – and 2 815 people have recovered.  There have been 37 deaths from COVID-19.

The public health laboratory has completed 130 064 tests, since February 2020.

There were 393 people vaccinated on Saturday, as part of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19.

To date, a total of 48 886 vaccinations have been administered – 20 549 men and 28 337 women. (BGIS)
