The man who died on board a minibus this morning has been identified as a 56-year-old Guyanese national.

The vehicle, B189, which plies the Rock Dundo to Bridgetown route, was on the last stop to The City when the discovery was made.

Police public relations officer, Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss, said the man’s name is being withheld at this time, until family members are notified. He also said an address was not available.

Inniss said police received a report about 7:50 a.m. from one of the operators of minibus B189 that a male passenger was having medical difficulties while on board. He said police responded and summoned medical personnel. The man was pronounced dead on board the minibus which was parked at the back of Central Police Station on Tudor Street, St Michael.

Jerry Wilson, driver and owner of the minibus, said: “The man catch we from up St Silas. He get in the van good like normal. When we get coming into Baxters Road, we see him start stiffening up, right. We were trying to get him to the hospital, but when we get here he wasn’t moving, so I called 211 . . ..”

It was Wilson’s first day back on the job as the van had been off the road for a clean-up. (KG)
