Estimates in heart of Covid-19
When its budget was approved last year, Government did not see a COVID-19 crisis coming.
But the pandemic’s subsequent devastating impact on health, the economy and the public purse will cast a shadow over this year’s Estimates Debate as it starts in the House of Assembly today at 10 a.m.
Debate on the Appropriation Bill, 2021, is scheduled to be piloted by Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Ryan Straughn.
Throughout this week, the minister, his Cabinet colleagues and senior civil servants are expected to outline the Mia Amor Mottley administration’s next 12 months of financial priorities, and how they will be funded. (SC)
