March 21 is the day people around the world acknowledge individuals with Down’s Syndrome.

And although they are grateful for the attention the Rock Your Socks campaign brings, two Barbadian families, who wore bright socks, say they don’t wait until then to celebrate the work and progress of their loved ones who live with the genetic disorder.

Cicely Roberts spoke of the challenges raising 29-year-old Kyle Roberts.

“It has been tough raising Kyle. He was diagnosed with Down’s Syndrome and he is also autistic. He went to special schools but since finishing school, he has been home with me.

“But he goes swimming, he loves going on boats and he is a top class swimmer,” Cicely said. (TG)
