Jockey Reshawn Latchman struck gold winning astride Brigintine Island in the featured Original Gold Stakes at Charles Town Races in West Virginia on Saturday.
It was one of three successes for Barbadian horsemen across the globe, with trainer Saffie Joseph Jr saddling one winner at Gulfstream Park and jockey Louis Beuzelin tasting victory at the Kranji Race Course.
Drawn nine in the ten-horse field for Race 8, a seven-furlong event offering a purse of US$75 000, Brigintine Island toyed with her opponents before giving Latchman an awesome victory.
The five-year-old chestnut mare rushed to the front, posting the first quarter in 23.68 seconds, ahead of Sherwood Lady and Amelia Bedella. (LY)
