St John is set to benefit from initiatives to further develop the rural parish, according to Parliamentary representative Charles Griffith.
Following a church service at the St John Parish Church earlier today, Griffith, who said St John is “definitely rising” gave an update on some of the major projects slated for the constituency, which are going to come on stream soon.
As it relates to the Wakefield farming project, Griffith said Government was at the stage of dividing the land into two-acre and three-acre plots.
Residents interested in starting a food crop enterprise were asked to register through the constituency office in order to lease a plot of land. Griffith said about 30 young people signed up and two or three-acre plots would be assigned to them.
Griffith added that plans were under way to further improve the road network, noting that St John would also benefit from the $250 million project Government set out for the Scotland District.
He also gave an update on a housing project in Pool and the Vineyard Water Augmentation Programme that would improve tap water service in the eastern part of the island. (SB)
