The man who unsuccessfully tried to hide a gun in the many boxer shorts he was wearing, was fined a total of $20 000 when he appeared in the No. 4 Supreme Court yesterday.
Jabari Hashim Brathwaite, 21, of Belair, St Philip, had pleaded guilty to having a .38-calibre revolver and five rounds of ammunition on June 3, 2019.
He was represented by Queen’s Counsel Michael Lashley and attorneys Seantelle Parris and Sade Harris.
“All I have to say is I am asking for your leniency in sentence. I am sorry for offending the court,” Brathwaite said via Zoom link from HMP Dodds.
Justice Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell fined him $15 000 in nine months or two years and 24 days in prison for having the gun, as well as $5 000 in four months or two years, 24 days in default of payment. (HLE)
