UPDATE: Fatal shooting at Waterford

One man was pronounced dead at the scene and another was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) after a shooting incident at Belle View, Waterford, St Michael on Wednesday.

A 14-year-old boy was also grazed by a bullet in his back.

Police at District “A” Station discovered the unresponsive body of the man at the scene of the shooting, which took place around 11:50 a.m.

Public relations officer, acting inspector Rodney Inniss, said the deceased was sitting outside his residence in the company of the other two individuals when two unknown men approached and open fire at them. All three fled.

The deceased was running away when he fell, the men caught up to him and several other shots were heard.

A crew from the ambulance service responded to the scene and after examination, found no sign of life from the body. The man was pronounced dead by a medical doctor who visited the scene.

A 25-year-old male was taken to the QEH by private transport for treatment.

Police investigations are ongoing.
