Attorney General Dale Marshall said he will speak to the country “very shortly in greater detail” on plans to tackle the recent upsurge in crime, especially those gun-related.
He said crime was everyone’s problem, “but we have to join together and fix it”.
Marshall was speaking on Sunday during the Barbados Labour Party’s online Stan’ Home Political Mass Rally to mark its third anniversary in office since the 2018 general election victory.
He said that over the last year, the average age range of perpetrators and victims of gun crime was between 21 and 35 years, with some as young as 18.
A day after the killing of Acting Station Sergeant Newton Lewis in Rose Hill, St. Peter, Marshall said the resources of the Royal Barbados Police Force had been committed to dealing with the tragedy.
“Lewis’ death tells us that we all have a stake in this and we all must do more,” he said. “I open this report card by asking every Bajan, every single Bajan, to join us in this fight. If you see something, say something.”
