A water sports operator caught 15 years ago offloading bales of drugs was given a suspended sentence by the No. 5 Supreme Court yesterday.

However, Matthew Ricardo Francis will have to pay a $10 000 fine by December for the shotgun he tried to smuggle in with the drugs.

Francis, now 45, of Crick Hill, Weston, St James, was back in court yesterday for sentencing after he had pleaded guilty, at an earlier Session of the Continuous Sittings, to having a 12-gauge shotgun on February 23, 2006.

He had also confessed that he possessed, trafficked and imported 300.4 kilogrammes of cannabis on the same date. (HLE)
