Barbadian striker Nick Blackman has signed off from his time in Israel with another piece of silverware after Maccabi tel-Aviv’s 2-1 extra time win over Hapoel tev-Aviv in the final of the Israel State Cup on Wednesday.
Even though Blackman did not feature in the game as his contract was about to expire, he contributed greatly to his side’s progress in the competition.
He started the games in the fourth round, round of 16 and quarter-finals and scored a crucial penalty in a 3-2 win over Hapoel Haifi in their tense round of 16 encounter.
Unfortunately, Blackman will again miss the Trident’s World Cup qualifiers but adding another trophy to cabinet will be a decent substitute until he can join up with the squad for the Concacaf Gold Cup qualifier against Bermuda in July. For now, the free agent is looking forward to holiday in Barbados with family while he weighs up his options for his next career move. (NM)
