All of the metal waste that Government has ordered B’s Recycling to remove by late May has not been cleared.

However, Chief Fire Officer Errol Maynard says he is pleased with the progress made at the Cane Garden, St Thomas recycling facility.

On May 4, Government officials, led by Minister of Home Affairs Wilfred Abrahams, gave B’s 21 days to reduce the mounds of metal to ensure the site was reasonably safe to avoid an environmental disaster, as well as to keep it free of rats. They also barred the business from accepting any more metal products.

If owner Paul Bynoe did not complete the task to the satisfaction of health officials, then the authorities could take possession of the property. (TG)
