Quantum Leap miles ahead

Quantum Leap took over the show as the Olympians’ Classic opened at the Usain Bolt Complex on Saturday night.

No spectators were allowed into the venue for the meet staged by the Athletic Association of Barbados but the Quantum Leap supporters, in their bright red shirts, screamed and cheered from the car park as their athletes dominated.

While the COVID-19 Monitoring Unit patrolled the venue, Quantum Leap runners maintained social distance from the competition in most of the events.

Earlier, the rapidly improving Kadia Rock of Alexandra School, in her smooth and unflappable style, smashed a nine-year record in the 400 metres for Under-15 Girls, cruising home in 58. 57 seconds to lower the 59.31 seconds set by Tiana Bowen in 2012. (KB)
