Zane misses out on top 3

Formula 3 ace Zane Maloney signed off from the Netherlands leg of the 2021 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA) with an eighth-place finish in Race 2 at the Circuit Zandvoort in Netherlands, yesterday morning.

The 17-year-old Barbadian, determined to improve on his 15th place finish in Race 1 on Saturday, performed well to improve on his 11th placed ranking coming out of the second qualifying round earlier yesterday morning where his fastest time was one minute, 32.216 seconds.

Maloney was the quickest qualifier from his team R-ace GP. Teammates Isack Hadjar and Hadrien David qualified for race 2 in positions 13 and 15, respectively.

The Barbadian pulled up to the chequered line after a total time of 32 minutes, 58.56 seconds. His fastest lap was clocked at one minute, 33.48 seconds. (NM)
