The Young Democrats, the youth arm of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP), and candidate for party president Reverend Guy Hewitt are not seeing eye to eye on some matters.
The young Dems said they were disappointed with Hewitt’s statements in another section of the press regarding the visibility of the group and a lack of recruitment of women.
“The executive members of the Young Democrats find the statement to be misleading as the Young Democrats currently have a female president, vice-president, secretary and education officer. We also currently have a slew of young vibrant female members and others who will be joining the Young Democrats soon,” they contended in a statement.
However, Hewitt hit back yesterday, accusing the group of issuing a deliberately misleading statement on the matter. (BA/PR)
