Dear Doc,
Why does my nose run even though I don’t have a cold or allergies? – Ms. Frank Dear Ms. Frank,
Liquid running from the nose is what we medically term rhinorrhea. As you stated, the usual causes are the cold or “allergies”, the latter is correctly termed allergic rhinitis. It is not uncommon to not have “allergies” as a child, but it can be a problem in an adult due to overexposure to an environmental allergen or other substance that is irritating your system. There are many tests available in Barbados to confirm this, including consultation from an allergy specialist.
However, if this has already been ruled out, there is the possibility of a growth or some other cause of an irritation in the nasal cavity, even COVID-19. There are also other potential causes, so my final statement would be to consult a physician to get a full examination and the appropriate investigations.
