An unbeaten 74 from Kamario Grant topped half-centuries from Achilles Browne and Kwame Patton and lead Rivaldo Clarke’s XI to a three-wicket victory over Nimar Bolden’s XI in the first Barbados Under-19 one-day trial match on Sunday.

Grant struck four fours and four sixes in his 79-ball innings and Clarke’s XI successfully chased a revised target of 209 in 40 overs in the rain-affected contest at Brighton.

The burly Grant shared two vital stands that rescued Clarke’s XI after opener Hackeem Perryman hit 34 to give them early momentum and then became one of four wickets that fell for seven in the space of 27 balls.

Clarke’s XI were wobbling on 59-5 in the 13th over but Grant put on 49 for the sixth wicket with Joshua Morris and shared a seventh-wicket stand of 97 with his Foundation schoolmate and former Barbados and West Indies Under-15 teammate Nathan Sealy.

Morris made 19 and Sealy 48 and Clarke’s XI crossed the finish line with 15 balls remaining.

Giovonte de Peiza was the most successful Bolden XI bowler with three for 26 from six overs.

Earlier, Browne led the way with 64 not out and Patton scored 55 to lead Bolden’s side to 179-5 off 40.5 overs, after they won the toss.

Browne struck four fours and one six from 119 balls and Patton smote six fours and one six from 59 balls.

They shared 90 for the third wicket, after Bolden’s XI stumbled to 75-3 in the third over.
