Gunman remanded despite pleas

Attorney Sian Lange has petitioned a High Court to allow self-confessed gunman Jamal Orlando Worrell to remain on bail so he can witness the birth of his child.

But that, Crown Counsel Kevin Forde countered, was not a good enough reason for a man who had just admitted to having seven guns and more than 30 bullets to remain on bail pending sentencing.

The submissions came after Worrell, now 39, of School Lane, Halls Road, St Michael, entered the nine guilty pleas when he appeared in the No. 4 Supreme Court on Thursday.

He confessed he had two 9mm semi-automatic pistols, two .38-calibre revolvers, a .40-calibre semi-automatic pistol, a 12-gauge signal flare and a .25-calibre semi-automatic pistol, as well as 32 rounds of ammunition and a further five rounds, all on April 1, 2016. (HLE)
