France’s new non-resident ambassador to Barbados, H.E. Jacques-Henry Heuls says that France is keen to “boost” its relations with Barbados.

Heuls conveyed his country’s intention during a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator, Dr Jerome Walcott, this morning at the Ministry’s office located in Culloden Road, St Michael.

Walcott welcomed the new ambassador and said he was “pleased and delighted” to hear of France’s intentions to not only continue, but boost the existing harmonious relationship between their countries.

During the visit, the officials discussed a variety of topics including: continuing training and exchanges between armed forces, as well as educational exchanges; air-services agreement, COVID-19 pandemic; tourism; blacklisting; and renewable energy.

Heuls, who will be based in St Lucia, presented his credentials to Governor General, Dame Sandra Mason, on June 23. Barbados established diplomatic relations with France in 1968. (BGIS)
