Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes yesterday called one matter of arson and two of serious bodily harm with intent “very grave” as he declined to grant bail to Brian Oneal Browne in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court.

Browne, a 33-year-old mason, of Eastbourne No. 1, St Philip, was automatically remanded to prison, until August 16, on a charge of murdering Janice Mitchell on July 13.

The accused was also charged that without lawful excuse, on July 10, he damaged Janice Mitchell’s house by fire, intending to damage it or was reckless as to whether it was damaged.

He was also not required to plead to doing serious bodily harm to Keisha Mitchell with intent, as well as causing serious bodily harm to one-year-old Haylee Mitchell with intent, also on July 10. (HLE)
