Over 100 000 get first dose of COVID vaccine

The National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19 reached an important milestone after administering 100 017 first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

A total of 76 665 people received second doses and are fully vaccinated.  This figure represents 28.3 per cent of the population.

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory reported 11 new COVID-19 cases, five men and six women from 1 233 tests carried out on Tuesday, August 3.

There are 101 people in isolation.

Barbados recorded 4 433 confirmed cases of the virus (2 153 females and 2 280 males) since the start of the pandemic in March last year. Forty-eight people died from the viral illness.

To date, the public health laboratory has conducted 222 797 tests. (BGIS)
