West Indies Women’s pair of Kycia Knight and Kyshona Knight are among 12 players the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) have awarded domestic contracts for the period July 1 this year to June 30 next year.

The twin sisters are the only two women cricketers in the group that was announced on Monday by the BCA.

The Knights featured for West Indies Women in their successful international home series against Pakistan Women last month in Antigua, helping the hosts to sweep the Twenty20 International series 3-0 and winning the One-day International series 3-2.

Of the others, only Empire pacer Jarion Hoyte, 21, has not played at the senior regional level.

“The overall group of talented players will be fully engaged within the BCA training and development programme sessions held at Kensington Oval,” the BCA said in a media release.

Wicketkeeper/batsman Tevyn Walcott, UWI teammate Nicholas Kirton and former West Indies Under-19 World Cup-winning all-rounder Shamar Springer head the group of Barbados Pride players that have earned the BCA contracts.

All three were dropped from the Pride franchise list in June during the last player draft for the Cricket West Indies Professional Cricket League for the 2021-2022 period, and Springer, 23, has not played at the senior regional level for close to two years.

Walcott and Kirton played for the Pride in the West Indies Super50 Cup this past February in Antigua, where the Barbadian franchise finished bottom of the six-team table.

Among the others, though opening batsman Shian Brathwaite, 21, played eight matches for West Indies Under-19s in the West Indies Super50 Cup four years ago, he has never played for the Pride franchise.

Contracted players:

Camarie Boyce, Leniko Boucher, Shian Brathwaite, Jonathan Drakes, Jarion Hoyte, Nicholas Kirton, Kycia Knight, Kyshona Knight, Zachary McCaskie, Roshon Primus, Shamar Springer, Tevyn Walcott.
