Coreen Selman-Harte is pleading with gunmen to think before they pull the trigger.
She made the call yesterday at the corner of Pine Hill and Pine Plantation Road, St Michael, on what would have been the 39th birthday of her son, Randy “Iran” Selman, popularly known as the “Nut Man”.
The grieving mother had just unveiled a sign near the spot where the father of two had sold nuts and other items for decades.
At 15, Selman first sold nuts by a wall at the junction, but after the business grew, he sold more items from a van parked on an open spot metres away. He became a feature at that spot, and there was a marker for him on Google Maps.
Last September 23, while relaxing outside his home in Golden Rock, The Pine, St Michael, Selman was fatally shot.
“I am hanging in there, his kids are hanging in there as well and every day we try to be strong, but sometimes you have a little breakdown in between but we are doing our best,” Selman-Harte said. (TG)
