Kingston – Cricket West Indies got further proof that playing international matches during the Caribbean wet season is a bad idea.
Not a ball was bowled on the second day of the second Test between West Indies and Pakistan after seasonal rain swept across the Jamaica capital and drenched Sabina Park.
It meant that the Pakistanis were left stuck on their overnight first innings total of 212 for four with Faheem Ashraf not out on 23 and Mohammad Rizwan not out on 22.
Umpires Joel Wilson and Gregory Brathwaite went through a series of inspections throughout the day before abandoning play about an hour before the scheduled close.
The Windies will not quibble too much about the loss of playing time because they lead the two-Test series 1-0 after a one-wicket victory inside four days in the first Test that ended this past Sunday at the same venue.
Play will start half hour earlier than regularly scheduled at 10:30 a.m. East Caribbean Time tomorrow and the two teams will have a minimum of 98 overs available.
